The Digital India Program was an important step taken by the Government of India to make India a digitally empowered country which started on Wednesday, 1 July 2015 at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Delhi. Many industrialists of the country like Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance India Limited, Cyrus Mistry, the then Chairman of Tata Group, and Azim Premji, Chairman of Wipro, were present at the launch. All of them considered how to take this program to the people in the villages and cities of the country.

It will provide online and authentic digital information to citizens, such as financial management, handling bank accounts, secure cyber-space, distance learning, etc.
• Digital service delivery – The availability of online services will enable government services to reach people in real-time through digital service delivery. Such as taking financial information, making electronic financial transactions easier making people cashless, and allowing people to do business online.
• Digital literacy – Creating digital empowerment of the people of the country will make digital literacy possible through accessible digital resources. This will enable the submission of necessary documents or certificates online rather than physically in offices, schools, and colleges.
The Government of India has launched the Digital India program to ensure the following objectives:
